Picture of the week

I've now been working with the new Nikon D4 for the best part of a month.  A number of you have been emailing me about my thoughts, so here is a quick resume of what I think.

In my opinion it offers a significant step on from my old D3s.

The  key advantages include auto focus improvements, it is a little more responsive in conjunction with teleconverters, notably the 1.4 x.  Files compared to the D3s have a cleaner look to them and the colours straight out of camera feel richer. The big plus is the new XQD card and buffer, simply astonishing.  I can keep my finger on the trigger and just keep firing at 10 frames a second.

Which brings me on to this weeks pic of the week a Hobby that has just taken a Swift, executed with the D4. I shot 30 frames of this bird as it flew towards me struggling to gain height with its heavy payload, not everyone was sharp but a good 70% are keepers.

Finally I am very excited to be a tutor for the recently launched MyPhotoSchool, take a look at my new Bird Photography course, an online tutorial by following the link below, the next one of which starts in a few days.
